What have you done today to help turn the tide? We are all so busy. We struggle with health issues, economic realities, family fissures, and work madness and, if we have room for the sweetness in life, our plates are full. But we need to make room to save our planet, our country, our communities, our families. We need to do more, and I am certainly in that we. For regular action, signing petitions, donating money, making phone calls, and helping get the word out are small ways we can all do something if we do not have the time to be a front line organizer. With that in mind from time to time I will try and post some things we can do to that can help.
Here are four resources for today.I think that there are too many who find the Republicans to be reprehensible but then do not look at what the Democrats have done, indeed are doing. Power and money usually lose out to the issues of “we the people” no matter what party flag is waved.
That said, I still do think there is value in letting our numbers be seen and our voices heard. One way is to make a visit a few times a week, if not daily as they recommend, to 5calls.Org
When you go to the site you are presented with a list of issues. You choose what you want to call about. They provide phone numbers and even a script. It’s quick, it’s easy and they have an interesting article on why this can be effective.
I also think that giving folks tools to fight against illegal stops my immigration or police are other good ways. Consider sharing this link widely We Are Here To Stay | How Immigrants Can Protect Themselves during a Trump Presidency
There are clear instructions to immigrants on what to do or not do when faced with immigration officials at their doorways. The instructions are printed in many languages. Yes, send out the link, but also consider printing and giving out copies to people you know who might need the info and do not have ready access to a computer.
Also there is a site to go for a detailing of what to do if stopped by the police. Now your rights, protect yourself.
At Copwatch.org you can file complaints against police officers. This is not a government sanctioned complaint site that may possibly, at least in the land of dreams, result in action, it is a database building a case for patterns of abuse of power in the police.
And yes before I wrote this up I made my calls and printed up Spanish language immigration 411.
